Advanced Placement Summer Institute for Spanish Language
Consultant:
Amalia Barreiro Gensman is a native from Mexico City. She has 30 years teaching experience. She is Foreign Language Department Chair and Teacher at Eisenhower Senior High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. She has been a College Board Consultant for 6Years. Also, she has participated in the Advanced Placement Exam Reading for 6 years. Ms. Gensman is Former Vice-Chair of the State of Oklahoma Textbook Committee and is a current member of the State of Oklahoma Teacher Certification Examination Committee.
The AP Spanish Language Course
The course will provide teachers with information to help students be successful when taking the Advance Placement Examination. The course will address the different aspects of the new 2007 Exam and its components. To help teachers become familiar with the exam, there will be a simulated reading of the 2007 Exam and an explanation of the new grading rubrics. Teaching activities and suggestions will be presented and shared. Emphasis will be given to the written and reading portions of the exam. Samples course syllabus and Course Description will be review to help with the Audit Process. Ideas for the integration of Vertical Teaming will also be addressed. Participants will be asked to share successful classroom experiences and activities as well as favorite internet resources (you may need to bring enough copies for all participants to have)
