Brief Course Description:
This Institute will cover all aspects of the AP Studio Art courses. Drawing and 2-D Design Portfolios will be discussed, distinguished and defined. The workshop will include approaches to organization, documenting/photographing student artwork as well as the role of keeping a visual journal. Student assessment in the classroom and the final reading of the portfolios will also be reviewed. Specifics will be given regarding a multitude of breadth curriculum ideas for both portfolios in hands-on experiences and visual examples. The three categories of the portfolios, Quality, Breadth and the Area of Concentration will be viewed and studied. Participants will experience making art and creating unique curriculum ideas for the “Area of Concentration” as well as for “Breadth” through brainstorming and hands on experiences in both the Drawing and 2-D Portfolios.
