Biography:
Linda Hall is from the Edmond School District in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she is the district's math specialist. As a teacher and department chair at Edmond Memorial High School, she received the EMHS Teacher of the Year Award in 1999-2000, was a Presidential Award state finalist in 1999 and 2001, received National Board Certification in 1998, and was named a Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 2004. In 2004-2005, she was named the Master Teacher in Residence at the University of Central Oklahoma, and has taught at UCO as an adjunct instructor. Mrs. Hall has been a College Board consultant for the past nine years. She holds a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Missouri and an M.A. in educational administration from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Course Description:
This course will focus on the purpose and value of the AP program and math vertical teams as well as strategies, activities, and assessment methods for Pre-AP high school math teachers to take back to their classroom. Participants will experience instructional ideas for Pre-AP Algebra I through Pre-AP Pre-Calculus designed to add depth to students' knowledge, to encourage critical thinking, and to prepare them for the AP Calculus and Statistics courses. Participants should bring a graphing calculator and a lesson, project, or activity to share with the class.
