Pre-A P Chemistry

The Pre-AP Chemistry institute is designed to assist Pre-A P teachers develop strategies to prepare their students for an AP Chemistry course.

Other topics may be included if time allows.  Some time will be spent using guided inquiry activities.  Laboratory time will used to develop skills needed for success in AP Chemistry.  An introduction to web materials helpful to chemistry teachers is planned.  Teachers should bring a calculator and paper.  It is advisory to bring goggles and to wear appropriate lab clothing on Monday - Thursday.

 

 

Valerie Ferguson has taught in the Moore Public School system since 1986.  Since 1992 she has been at Moore High School teaching high school chemistry, honors high school chemistry, and Advanced Placement chemistry.  She sponsors an ACS High School Chem Club.  She serves as a Reader and Table Leader during the grading of the Advanced Placement Chemistry exam each summer.  Mrs. Ferguson is active in several professional organizations including the American Chemical society.  She is the National Chemistry Week activities Coordinator for the Oklahoma Section of the American Chemical Society.  Mrs. Ferguson has presented summer institutes for the College Board since 1999.  She is the ACS 2007 Southwest Region (TX, OK, AR, LA) High School Chemistry Teacher.
