Call for submissions for a National Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Works in Clay
The University of Tulsa School of Art will be hosting its annual national Juried exhibition, "Red Heat", in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery the Fall of 2012. The deadlines, exhibition dates and the Entry Form are listed below.
The Competition is open to all professional artists living in the U.S. who are 18 years and older. All works, both functional and sculptural must be original, be made predominantly of clay and have been made within the last three (3) years. $2500 in cash prizes to be awarded by Juror.

The School of Art is a stimulating but intimate environment to practice, understand and advance the visual arts.
- We offer solid grounding in traditional art-making practices, while encouraging innovative and interdisciplinary approaches.

The Alexandre Hogue Gallery, housed in Phillips Hall and run by the School of Art, serves as the chief focal point for the university’s engagement with the visual arts. Used year-round for the exhibition of arts, crafts, performance art, and special events, the gallery also offers exhibitions of historical, global, and multicultural significance. It is also the site of the annual Gussman Student Art Exhibition and numerous shows by prominent artists, and can be comfortably used for poetry readings and chamber music performances.
The Gallery serves as:
- a public venue for visiting artists and a campus showplace for School of Art faculty, students, alumni;
- a forum for discussion of traditional and emerging artistic practices, innovative ideas and provocative notions;
- and a classroom that provides students with a diverse variety of images, ideas and philosophies for education, contemplation and inspiration.
Every year, an exhibition featuring the work of an established painter is funded by the Mayo Foundation.
Third Floor Design is a unique internship program that offers students in their junior and senior years the opportunity to work on professional design assignments. Founded in 1992, Third Floor Design program (named after the design and computer graphics lab on the third floor of Phillips hall) matches student designers with clients from the Tulsa non-profit community. Assignments range from small jobs to full-scale annual reports, including the design of posters, logos, letterheads, brochures, corporate identity items, T-shirts and magazines. Students leave the Third Floor Design internship program with professional quality portfolios. They have found great success in job placement.
The School of Art encourages students to participate in Study Abroad programs in their junior or senior years. This allows students to experience different cultures and expand their horizons. To offer students a wide choice, they can use the extraordinary resources of the Center for Global Education. [link to global education] Various types of programs to fit every student’s needs are available all over the world. To date, School of Art students have taken coursework in London, Edinburgh, Sydney, Turin, Florence, Rome, Venice and Cortona, Italy.
