Many students wonder what topics are appropriate for presentation at the Colloquium.   Your presentation could contain anything from original research or scholarship that you are conducting to work that you have already submitted for a classroom project.  Some students also use this as an opportunity to present a research proposal or scholarship in which they are contemplating doing an in-depth study. Topics do not have to cover experimental research.

Please encourage your fellow students to participate by giving an oral presentation as well as attending the Colloquium.  Besides gaining public speaking experience, there are many academic benefits to participating in this program.  This is a rare opportunity to learn about other students’ research outside of your academic discipline and experience judging methods used by professional organizations for national and international meetings.

There are cash awards for the top six presentations: 1st Place - $250, 2nd Place - $200, 3rd Place - $150, and three Honorable Mention awards of $100 each.

We also need students to volunteer as judges and sessions chairs for the individual Colloquium presentation sessions.   We are looking for students to commit to at least one morning or afternoon of the four-day event as judges or session chairs.  We plan to have a team of judges for each session that will include a faculty member from each college and a student.  To volunteer as a judge or session chair, please visit the GSA website at http://www.orgs.utulsa.edu/gsa/judges.html.
