B.S./B.A., 2007, Economics/Political Science
Erin Abercrombie received two degrees from TU in 2007, earning a bachelor of science degree in economics and a bachelor of arts degree in political science. She currently works as a market risk manager at Koch Supply and Trading in Houston.
As a market risk manager for crude and products trading, Abercrombie seeks to quantify the daily impact of unexpected economic and political events on the company's portfolio of commodities.
"The variables to take into account are complex, and my education at TU has been key to my ability to do my job," she said.
Abercrombie said the most priceless skill she learned during her college career was the ability to digest large amounts of information quickly and communicate complex ideas in a concise manner both verbally and in writing.
"The arts and sciences college allows students to fine-tune their analytical skills through writing, verbal communication, participation in class discussions, and one-on-one mentoring with professors," she said. "I learned that an answer is often not black and white. In any industry, the best decisions can be made when the whole landscape of possible outcomes is understood."
