After graduating with a bachelor’s of music from The University of Tulsa in 2001, Dallas native Nathan De’Shon Myers has devoted his career to the world of vocal performance. An accomplished baritone with international appeal, his early career dates back to the 2006/2007 season as an inaugural member of The Dallas Opera Young Artist Program.

The following year, he made his European debut as a soloist at one of Germany’s most prestigious opera houses, the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin until 2012, collaborating with noted artists such as Neil Schicoff, Johan Botha and Elisabeth Futral.

In 2011, Myers made his solo debut at Carnegie Hall where he received a standing ovation for his presentation of “Spirituals Re-Imagined.” Later, he returned to Dallas to pursue his passions of education and performing. As a “teaching artist,” he currently serves on the voice faculty of the internationally renowned Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School while completing his master’s degree at Southern Methodist University.

Recently, Myers joined The Dallas Opera cast for the 2013/2014 season production of Barber of Seville. He also is preparing to return to Europe for his Austrian debut in the title role of Jonny Spielt auf. Throughout his career, he has continued to work with Peter and Linda Strummer, mentors and former TU School of Music faculty members.

“Their guidance over the past 15 years has been instrumental in helping maintain the level of excellence that keeps me in national and international demand, both as an educator and solo operatic artist,” Myers said.
