The Wozobski Family
Wynn Wozobski and his wife, Bette (MA ’73, MA ’76), first became involved with The University of Tulsa’s Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre after attending a university production of Rent in 2011. Although quite a contrast from his everyday life in the financial industry, Wynn, his wife and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily, have a keen interest and deep appreciation for the performing arts. The family reached out to TU, asking how they could help support the theater and musical programs. They decided to cosponsor the Tulsa Shakespeare in the Park series in June 2013, and Wynn was offered a cameo role in its performance of Much Ado About Nothing.

“It was an honor to participate and work so closely with the theatre program,” Wynn said. “The entire event was very well-organized and very well-received.”
The family’s passion for music also includes support of local Tulsa band Balderdash, featuring singer Adrianna Ramirez Nelson. Wynn has assisted the band in production of their new CD, a fun venture that complements the Wozobskis’ involvement at TU. After Shakespeare in the Park, Wynn returned to the stage with another cameo in the October 2013 university production of Beehive.
“I enjoy attending rehearsals and watching how a play comes together,” he said. “You can feel the adrenaline, pressure and anxiety of show time, but everyone still goes out of their way to treat me like a regular cast member.”
In 2013, Wynn, his wife and daughters chose to establish the Wozobski Family Scholarship in the Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre. After careful consideration, the Wozobskis chose to support students with the most financial need.
“Music and theater brings people together, and we know the scholarship will allow promising students to succeed in performing arts well into the future,” Wynn said.
