As a language and literature scholar, Willis sees internationalization as the vital, physical, every-day skills mission to immerse tomorrow’s leaders in other modes of expression and thought. Willis studied French and Hindi before specializing in Spanish and Portuguese. He teaches the literatures and cultures of Latin America in Spanish and English, and initiated instruction in Portuguese at TU. His scholarship on early 20th-century Latin American literature has benefited from extensive travel throughout Mexico as well as grant-funded research in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador (Brazil), Santiago de Chile, and London.
