Class of 2010, Accounting

Megan Mitchell says, "A person's will is a strong indicator of how successful they will be in their pursuits." Mitchell, a full-time student, an ACAC employee, and campus activities participant, is led by this philosophy and has proven it to be true.

A junior from Tulsa, Megan is majoring in accounting and pursuing a minor in managing and information systems. While keeping her grades strong, she is also the public relations chair for Kappa Kappa Gamma and a pledge of Beta Alpha Psi, an Accounting/MIS/Finance Honor Society.  Mitchell, who was selected for an internship with CCK, wants to be a college accounting professor.

As a member of Allen Chapman Activity Center's Service Team, Mitchell assists the administrative office with the operations of the facility as well as guests of the building. She is the first smiling face that many guests see when are asking for assistance. Among other duties, she helps people locate where a meeting or event is being held, guides them in completing room reservation requests, and gives prospective and current students information about organizations and other campus resources to help them.

With all of her classes, community service and chapter activities and work, it is hard to believe that Mitchell has time for anything else. Yet she has enjoyed traveling to England, France and Costa Rica.

When asked why she chose The University of Tulsa, she replied "because of the small number of students in the classrooms, and the size of the student body overall. Plus, the campus is beautiful!"

Why does she enjoy working in the Activity Center? "Because I work with some really nice people. My job is very relaxing and rewarding at the same time. It's a nice balance with the stress from school."
