Stephanie Nowak, a second-year student from Willow Creek, Mont., was awarded one of three nationally competitive Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarships. The scholarship includes a paid summer associate position with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz, PC following the student’s second year and $10,000 to assist with the cost of tuition during the third year of law school.
Nowak was one of nearly 80 applicants for the award. Selection criteria includes an outstanding academic record during undergraduate and law school studies, a good work ethic demonstrated by work experience or community service, and letters of recommendation. After the 2009-10 academic year, she will report to the firm’s Nashville, Tenn., office for her summer associate position.
Nowak has previously clerked for the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office and served as judicial assistant and deputy court clerk for the 18th District Court in Bozeman, Mont. At the TU College of Law, Nowak is a member of the Board of Advocates and the Public Interest Law Society and she is a candidate for the Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law.
