Presidential Lecture Series featuring Charles C. Mann
Wednesday, September 03, 2014 from 07:30 PM to 09:00 PM
Donald W. Reynolds Center, 3208 E. 8th St. on the TU campus
Award-winning writer Charles C. Mann has covered the intersection of science, technology and commerce for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, Wired and The Atlantic Monthly.
He altered our understanding of the Americas prior to European influence through his book 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus, which won the U.S. National Academy of Sciences’ Keck Award for best book of the year. The work was dubbed a “landmark” by the Boston Globe and “monumental” by Salon.com. His follow-up, 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, was a New York Times Best Seller.
Mann’s lecture at TU also sets the stage for the Sept. 6-7 grand opening of Gilcrease Museum’s Helmerich Center for American Research by providing an overview of pre-Columbus Americas.
Book signing to follow lecture.
