TU students display 3,000 flags and write letters to active military
University of Tulsa students hosted two events in remembrance of the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The student-led initiatives honored those who lost loved ones on 9/11 and thanked military men and women for serving their country.
Flags of remembrance
The TU chapter of College Republicans placed 3,000 U.S. flags at Chapman Commons, which is the green space inside the university’s new U-shaped drive. The Office of the Provost sponsored the event and a group of 15–20 students volunteered to place flags.
Thank you from TU
Students wrote letters to active duty military on Sept. 10 outside the Twin Towers dining center. The TU chapter of College Republicans coordinated with the ROTC from Oklahoma State University on the initiative, and provided letter-writing materials outside the dining hall.
