Rental car special applies to new and existing TU members
Connect by Hertz, which offers reasonably priced hourly car rentals on The University of Tulsa campus, is running two holiday specials for new and existing members.
New members who sign up before Thanksgiving (Nov. 26) will receive a year of free membership, waived application fee and a $25 driving credit if they sign up at www.connectbyhertz.com and use the promotion code TURKEY.
In addition, all members who prepay $50 worth of driving credit will receive a free gift of $10 in driving credits. Members who prepay $100 will receive $25 worth of free driving credits, and those who prepay $200 will receive $50 in extra driving credits. To receive the free credits, members must send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org containing name, membership number and desired number of credits they want to purchase.
Connect by Hertz provides members with the assurance that if they need to run an errand or leave campus for any reason, a car is easily accessible.
All TU students, faculty and staff can sign up for the program after Thanksgiving at www.connectbyhertz.com by using the promotional code GOGREEN2010. Annual membership fees of $50 will be waived until Dec. 31. Annual renewal fees are $25.
To qualify for Connect by Hertz car sharing, potential members must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. A valid credit or debit card and proof of address also is required. Cars are equipped with Eileo® technology, and benefits covered by the hourly rate include gas, insurance, NeverLost® in-car GPS turn-by-turn navigation, 24/7 roadside assistance, 24-hour Member Care Center communication, and 180 free miles per day. Drivers must pay for their own tickets or traffic violations and will be charged a $250 deductible if the vehicle is damaged.
Two Ford Escape SUVs parked on the TU campus are available for rent for $9 an hour or $68 per day. Vehicles can be rented 24 hours a day, seven days a week after members receive their enrollment packet. One vehicle is located at Allen Chapman Activity Center, and another is parked in the Westby Lot.
Once enrolled, members will receive an access card, personal identification number and a member number that will allow them to access the vehicle. Inside the car, users will find an ignition key and a Hertz-monitored gas card, both of which will operate only if the vehicle is accessed properly.
Vehicles must be returned to the original marked parking space in a clean condition with no less than ¼ tank of gas. Any unauthorized vehicle parked in a Connect by Hertz space will be towed immediately. The Connect by Hertz program is in keeping with TU’s efforts to promote sustainability and maintain an environmentally friendly campus.
