KWGS to rebroadcast KAKC program on June 24

The documentary won in the Metro Radio: Special Programming category during this year’s Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters annual awards ceremony.

KWGS, Public Radio 89.5, will rebroadcast the award-winning radio documentary Tulsa’s Top 40 Legend, KAKC at 8 p.m. on June 24. The two-hour program on the history of Tulsa’s premiere Top 40 radio station will air in its entirety on 89.5FM and can also be heard online at www.publicradiotulsa.org.

The documentary was written and produced by The University of Tulsa’s KWGS 89.5. The station’s KAKC documentary won in the Metro Radio: Special Programming category during this year’s Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters annual awards ceremony. The program also received a Finalist Certificate in the New York Festivals international radio competition.

Friday’s rebroadcast is in conjunction with the opening of the exhibit The Big 97, Tulsa’s KAKC Radio at the Tulsa Historical Society, 2445 S. Peoria. An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on June 23.
