Organizations team up for Oklahoma tornado victims

The University of Tulsa’s True Blue Neighbors program announced Thursday, May 23, that it would make a $2,500 donation to the American Red Cross earmarked for tornado relief. Other members of the TU family joined this effort during the 2013 TU Employee Appreciation Week picnic, donating nearly $1,000. All of the contributions are being delivered to the Red Cross to assist people affected by this week’s deadly storms in central Oklahoma.

Also, the Tulsa Chapter of the Alumni Association’s TU Uncorked event announced that 10 percent of the proceeds from the silent and live auctions would go to the True Blue Neighbors’ initiative for tornado relief. TU Uncorked will be held on Friday, June 7, and benefits the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Finally, TU has partnered with the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University to develop the 2013 Oklahoma Disaster Relief Shirt. Net proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated directly to the United Way to aid disaster relief and recovery efforts across the state. The shirt, which features TU, OU and OSU logos, sells for $19.95 and is available through the official TU online store at shop.tulsahurricane.com.
