Zarrow Center welcomes TGAS
Monday, January 13, 2014
The Tulsa Girls Art School show and sale opens just in time for this month’s Jazz Happy Hour at TU's Zarrow Center.
The Tulsa Girls Art School show and sale "Imagin8" will be on exhibit at the Henry Zarrow Center for Art and Education, 124 E. Brady St., from Jan. 17 through March 2.
The show will include works from 45 girls, ages 8 to 17, that show the range and talent of the students at Tulsa Girls Art School. Artwork includes oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, photography and multimedia pieces.
TGAS is a nonprofit, after-school art program that trains underserved Tulsa Public School elementary students to be visual artists. The program assists students in nine art mediums, and 30 percent of their sale is put into the students' micro savings account, which can be used to purchase personal art supplies, to spend on field trips and to pay for art classes and materials.
Zarrow patrons will get a sneak peek at the exhibit Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. since it is the third Thursday of the month and time for Jazz Happy Hour. This event features a cash bar, live jazz from University of Tulsa music students and plenty of time to browse the gallery's latest art show.
