Dale Schoenefeld, PhD joined the University in 1976 as an Assistant Professor of Mathematical
Sciences. He progressed through the faculty ranks to his current faculty position as Professor of
Computer Science and Mathematics, which he has held since 1997. He began his concurrent administrative
career as Vice Provost in 1998 and was named Chief Information Officer in 2004. In
his current position, he provides leadership and oversight for the University library, academic and
administrative computing, and various voice and data communication systems. He has primary
responsibility for initiating information security policy, communicating security responsibilities to
the University community, and advising the executive team related to information assurance and
compliance requirements. He received his bachelor’s degree at Wayne State College and his M.S.
and Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. He has served on the Board of Directors of MacroSolve,
Inc., since 2004.
