From the Dean’s Desk: College of Engineering & Computer Science, March 2024

Dear colleagues, students, alumni, and friends,

As we chart a course toward increasing preeminence and a national reputation for excellence, I am consistently struck by the remarkable accomplishments of TU’s College of Engineering & Computer Science. Our faculty continue to gain success in high-impact research and receive recognition from their peers as recipients of prestigious awards.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the donors who generously support our programs with significant contributions benefiting our faculty, students, and facilities. Through support like this from our dedicated community, we continue to enhance the ability of our college to provide an exceptional education and make important strides in engineering and computing research.

This past month, the unveiling of TU’s Alan Paller Cyber Scholars program, aimed at fostering interest in cybersecurity careers, demonstrated our commitment to advancing this vital field. Named in honor of Paller, a pioneer in cybersecurity, this two-year pilot program embodies our dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders. We also celebrated Vincent Ume-Ezeoke, a mechanical engineering senior, who received the 2023 Pactiv Evergreen Scholarship in collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers.

Furthermore, we are happy to recognize the ongoing contributions of Andy MacKay of MACCOR, Inc. The effects of his hands-on engagement with our students and significant financial donations, including a state-of-the-art Battery Cycling System, help position TU at the forefront of energy storage battery technology exploration.

As we look ahead to future opportunities, our commitment to excellence and innovation grows. We are poised for measurable advancement in research, education, and societal impact. Together, we can accomplish great things and achieve continued success.
