  • Chief Academic Officer
  • Oversees curriculum development in all undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Supervises faculty recruitment, development, promotion and tenure
  • Assures maintenance and integrity of academic records, and compliance in reporting academic information to outside agencies
  • Keeps the university focused on accomplishing its mission
  • Leads academic strategic planning, accreditation and assessment programs
  • Develops academic support systems: library, computing, publications, nationally competitive scholarships, continuing education, and global education
  • Monitors academic auxiliary programs: Petroleum Abstracts, University School
  • Reports to the Board of Trustees, its Executive Committee and Faculty and Curriculum Committee on all academic matters
  • Serves on the Executive Council, President's Small Executive Staff (PSES), University Council (UC), Faculty Senate, University Curriculum Committee (UCC), and other bodies
  • Represents the University to numerous outside constituencies in the community, state, nation and to various professional communities

  • Promotes, expands and manages the Center for Global Education
  • Oversees the research and development of a comprehensive strategic plan for global education
  • Promotes the value of global education among faculty and students
  • Works collegially with deans, department chairs, faculty, administrators and staff in internationalizing the curriculum
  • Provides intellectual and administrative leadership to engage faculty and administrators in faculty international development, international exchanges, and teaching oversees
  • Oversees the management of graduate and undergraduate study abroad programs, experiential education and international internships

  • Serves as University Judicial Board (UJB) Hearing Officer for cases involving violations of the Student Code of Conduct
  • Serves as Primary Response Team Member for crises involving students, faculty and staff
  • Coordinates the Retention Team: Tracks, identifies and plans programs for students designed to enhance enrollment and academic success
  • Serves as reporting official for Student Affairs during Associate Vice President's absence from campus
  • Serves as a member of the New Student Orientation Planning and Steering Committee
  • Serves as 504 Coordinator for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  • Coordinates training programs for faculty and staff on the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Chairs the Accomodations Committee for students seeking relief under the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Coordinates academic services including the University Tutoring Program
  • Plans programs designed to assist with time management, test anxiety, and study skills
  • Works with the Athletic Department to provide tutorial assistance to student athletes
  • Provides academic advisement for undergraduate assistants
  • Administers the University's Medical and Psychological Withdrawal process

  • Advises undergraduate and graduate students who apply for prestigious scholarship or fellowships that require university endorsement (such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, Udall, Fulbright)
  • Coordinates campus application procedure from notification through submission
  • Organizes selection and screening committees
  • Communicates with fellowship boards and foundations

As Associate Director of the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC)

  • Oversees TURC operations including admissions and selection for summer research stipends and opportunities for civic engagement and service
