gilcrease museum painting

The Museum Science and Management Program takes full advantage of the research and scholarship of TU faculty members and the staff and facilities of Gilcrease Museum.

Because Gilcrease is a full-service museum, many skill sets and careers are represented among its staff: subject matter specialists in art history, ethnology, history, and archeology; collections management, registration, education, IT, photography, development, and administration.

The Gilcrease conservation laboratory, as well as labs at TU, offer unique opportunities to explore the science of museum work. In addition, the unique manuscript, document, and map collections at Gilcrease are augmented by the widely renowned Special Collections in TU’s McFarlin Library, which specializes in 19th and 20th-century American, British, and Irish literature as well as Native American history and law.
