ENGL 3523 - Gender in Modernism and Postmodernism

Developments and experimentation with the gendering of fiction and poetry by men and women writers in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Explores the unstable borders between definitions of modernism and postmodernism (as names of historical periods, philosophies, and aesthetic methods) and between genders, including the problematic of “differences” (e.g. race, class, sexuality).
