Greek Scholar to Present Odyssey Lecture April 9 at TU

An April 9 public lecture at The University of Tulsa will discuss interpretations of ancient Greek literature by a premier historian in the field.
The lecture, entitled “The Odyssey as Performance Poetry,” will be given by Oswyn Murray and will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, April 9, in the Faculty Study at TU’s McFarlin Library. The event is free and open to the public.
Murray was formerly a fellow and tutor in ancient history at Balliol College, University of Oxford. He has written extensively on ancient Greece and one of his most popular books, "Early Greece,” is now being published in Chinese. He has also written "Sympotica: a Symposium on the Symposium,” “In Vino Veritas,” as well as “The Encyclopedia of the Ancient Greek World.”
