HIST 2453 - Music & Society in the Americas through Film
Introduction to the cultural history of modern music in the Americas. Explores the context of several American music genres including Blues, Jazz, Tango, Broadway, Caribbean styles, Country Tejano/Conjunto, Rock and Roll, Reggae and Hip Hop. Emphasis on understanding cross-cultural influences, interpreting musical commentary on gender, community, commercial and political trends in the larger historical development of music in the Americas.
