SOC 3063 - Sociology of Education

History of education in the U.S.; nature and purposes of education; laws and policies affecting education; reproduction of and challenges to social inequalities in education; curricular issues; contemporary controversies. Particular attention to the ways that race, class, and gender shape the schooling that different groups of students receive. Prerequisite: Soc 1033 or 2133, or Educ 2104, or permission of instructor. Same as WS 3063.
