TU to Open 36th Annual Gussman Student Art Exhibit on April 1, Followed by Graduate Student Exhibit

The University of Tulsa’s School of Art will open two student art exhibits in April in the Alexandre Hogue Gallery, located in Phillips Hall, Fifth Street and College Avenue.
The annual Gussman Student Competition and Exhibition will honor top artwork created by students in The University of Tulsa’s School of Art. Artwork in all media will be on display from April 1-23.
The opening reception will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 1. Top student entries in the competition will receive a monetary prize. Awards will include best of show, as well as awards in undergraduate and graduate student categories. The annual competition has been sponsored by Tulsa arts supporter Herbert Gussman since 1968.
Paintings, prints and ceramics by TU graduate students working toward master’s of fine arts degrees will be shown from April 29-May 21 in the gallery. A reception for the annual Graduate Student Thesis Exhibition will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29.
Following these exhibits, art by TU senior art majors will be on display in the gallery from May 27 to June 18. An opening reception will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 27, in the gallery.
Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 to noon Friday. The events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the TU School of Art at (918) 631-2202.
