Wednesday, December 11, 2013
Undergraduates Caitlin Pegg and Mitchell Trafford were awarded Outstanding Presentation trophies for their recent talks at the Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium at Rice University. Caitlin presented her research on nanofibers functionalized with therapeutic molecules--a project that was recently published in Chemical Communications and featured on the cover of the journal. Mitchell presented his research on a novel palladium catalyst that is useful in the environmentally friendly synthesis of medicinally valuable compounds. Both students carried out their research as part of the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge and the Chemistry Summer Undergraduate Research Program. Both students are advised by Dr. Justin Chalker in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Click here for more on Caitlin's and Mitchell's award.
