Bradley named ABET Fellow

TU alumnus is now president of Indiana State University

Daniel J. BradleyDr. Daniel J. Bradley, who earned his master’s degree in petroleum engineering from The University of Tulsa in 1983, was named a Fellow of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology during the 2010 ABET Annual Awards Banquet in Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 28.

ABET is the recognized accrediting body for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. The Fellow of ABET Award is presented annually to recognize individuals who have given sustained quality service to board-related professions, in general, and to education within the ABET disciplines.

Bradley, who is president of Indiana State University, was recognized “for exemplary leadership and stewardship of ABET's finances spanning a decade and for more than two decades of dedicated commitment to ABET accreditation and quality assurance as a program evaluator, team chair, ABET Board member, and ABET Officer.”

In addition to his master’s degree from TU, Bradley has a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology and a doctorate in physical chemistry from Michigan State University.

Bradley joined the faculty at Montana Tech, where he served as Dean of Engineering, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research. In 2001, he became president of Fairmont State University in West Virginia, and in 2008, he took his current position at Indiana State University.

Bradley volunteered for ABET in 1989, becoming a program evaluator from the Society of Petroleum Engineers and later a member of the Engineering Accreditation Commission. In subsequent years, he served on the ABET Board of Directors, on ABET’s Finance Committee, and eventually as ABET treasurer.

ABET Inc. is a federation of 30 professional and technical societies. The board currently accredits about 3,100 programs at more than 600 colleges and universities in 21 countries.
