Asylum Denied Coauthors to Discuss Personal Story of Immigration
Wednesday, November 04, 2009 from 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM
Attorney Philip G. Schrag and political refugee David Ngaruri Kenney will deliver a lecture entitled “Asylum Denied: A Refugee’s Struggle for Safety in America” at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, at the TU College of Law.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Price & Turpen Courtroom of John Rogers Hall, 3120 E. 4th Pl. After the lecture, Schrag and Kenney will sign copies of the book they coauthored, which carries the same title as the lecture.
After leading a protest against the government in his native Kenya, Kenney was arrested and ordered to be executed. “Asylum Denied” is the story of how Kenney escaped oppression and death, to seek respite in the United States. With the help of Schrag, his attorney, Kenney was eventually able to overcome the many obstacles he faced during the immigration process.
