Modern Day Slavery in Oklahoma: OBA Members Take Action

The Oklahoma Bar Association hosts a seminar for the legal community and TU Law students.

Program Description
Human Trafficking is present in Oklahoma and the victims face numerous legal needs. Most of us think that human trafficking happens in faraway places - the truth is that Oklahoma is a prime state for modern day slavery recruitment. Last year, the OBA joined the fight against human trafficking by starting a task force to compliment the state’s efforts.

This seminar builds on the first seminar we held in Oklahoma City and will give you a better understanding of the issues you may encounter and how as a lawyer you can represent the victims of human trafficking in their criminal, labor and employment, contracts, family, immigration and other areas of law. Experts will provide valuable information on how to recognize human trafficking and how you can assist child victims and adult victims of sex and labor trafficking within a variety of legal contexts.

Topics Covered
* State and Federal Laws and Prosecution Part 1
* State and Federal Laws and Prosecution Part 2
* Representing Human Trafficking Victims in Civil Proceedings
* Representing Victims in Labor and Employment and Immigration Matters
* Representing Human Trafficking Victims in Family Law Matters
* Ethics Issues Relating to the Representation of Human Trafficking Victims
