Carrie Basas – Assistant Professor of Law

  • Gave three CLEs to area legal professionals in December 2008 on the issue of disability in the profession.

Publications

  • Contracted with Carolina Academic Press to write a textbook on disability rights, as part of Michael Schwartz"s textbook series.
  • Had article, "The New Boys: Women with Disabilities and the Legal Profession" accepted by the Berkeley Gender Law Journal for the spring 2010 edition.

Affiliations

  • Invited to join the review board of the Review of Disability Studies produced by the University of Hawaii.

  • Was a contributing author for The Encyclopedia of United States Indian Policy and Law, which has been published by CQ Press.

  • Spoke at the 2009 AALS Annual Meeting panel program of the Section on Indian Nations and Indigenous Peoples on the topic, "New Directions for International Law and Indigenous Peoples."
  • Spoke at the panel program for the Section on Law and Anthropology on the topic "Origins and Solutions to the Indian Freedmen Disputes."

Irma Russell – Professor of Law

  • Presented at the meeting of the AALS Section on Natural Resources in Sand Diego on January 9, 2009, on the topic of "Sustainability Law and Natural Resources."
  • Served as a moderator and commentator for the AALS Section on Professional Responsibility on the topic of "Teaching Professionalism: Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going?"
