TU College of Law to Host Luncheon for Alumni and Friends at OBA Annual Meeting, Nov. 4

The TU College of Law will host a November 4 luncheon for alumni and friends in conjunction with the Oklahoma Bar Association’s annual meeting in Oklahoma City. The event will be held at noon in the Red Carpet Room of the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel, 1 North Broadway Avenue.
The luncheon will honor two law school alumni and two award-winning students. It also will feature a keynote lecture by Martin A. Frey, TU Emeritus Professor of Law. Frey’s lecture is entitled “The University of Tulsa College of Law: Its Past, the Present and Its Future.”
Former Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court Daniel Boudreau (JD ’76), who currently serves as TU Lecturer in Law, will receive the Outstanding Senior Alumnus award. Boudreau has been part of the TU College of Law faculty since retiring from the judiciary in 2004. Prior to his appointment to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, he served for eight years as judge on the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals, authoring hundreds of judicial decisions that addressed legal issues in a wide spectrum of civil cases. Prior to his service on the intermediate court of appeals, he spent 11 years as a general jurisdiction trial judge, assigned primarily to a civil docket.
The Outstanding Junior Alumnus recognition will be presented to Marvin Lizama (JD ’06). Lizama serves as cochair of the Alumni Relations Committee of the TU College of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, vice president of the Oklahoma Hispanic Bar Network, and member of the Tulsa Minority Networking Taskforce. He recently was named Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Tulsa County Bar Association.
Two third-year law students will also receive honors. Jared Burden of Midland, Texas, will be recognized as the 2009 TU College of Law OBA Outstanding Student. Jessica Hunt of Skiatook, Okla., will receive the Oklahoma Bar Foundation Fellows Scholarship.
