TU Graduates Well Represented in 2010 Super Lawyers

Wednesday, December 01, 2010

Thomson Reuters, the international company which publishes state-specific Super Lawyers magazines throughout the country, lists 202 University of Tulsa College of Law graduates among the nation’s Super Lawyers and another 112 TU law graduates among the nation’s Rising Stars.

Thomson Reuters rates outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. The Super Lawyers list is limited to five percent of the lawyers per jurisdiction, and the Rising Stars list is limited to 2.5 percent of the lawyers per jurisdiction. Rising Stars recognizes the top up-and-coming lawyers who are 40 years old and younger.

Candidates are evaluated based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts; settlements; transactions; representative clients; experience; honors and awards; special licenses and certifications; position within law firm, bar, and/or other professional activity; pro bono and community service; scholarly lectures and writings; education and employment background; and other outstanding achievements.

“The College of Law’s high representation on the Super Lawyers list is indicative of the quality of our student body and the preparation they received at TU,” said Kristine Bridges, Assistant Dean and Director of Professional Development for the TU College of Law.

Oklahoma Super Lawyers magazine, published in November, is delivered to more than 16,000 readers, including Oklahoma lawyers, the lead corporate counsel of the Russell 3000 companies, and ABA-approved libraries. A list of the Oklahoma Super Lawyers and Rising Stars is also placed in a special advertising section of the November issue of Oklahoma Magazine. In addition, the Oklahoma Super Lawyers can be viewed at www.superlawyers.com/oklahoma/.

Oklahoma has the highest number of TU alumni on the Super Lawyers and Rising Stars list. Texas and Missouri have the second- and third-highest number respectively for both.
