Women's Law Caucus Seeking to Reconnect With Alumni

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

The Women’s Law Caucus at TU is seeking to reconnect with the organization’s alumni to keep them informed about law school and WLC activities, as well as provide current students an opportunity to engage with successful alumni.

The WLC, which is open to both men and women, raises awareness about and donates time to advance women’s issues, such as breast cancer organizations and women’s shelters. Judges, attorneys, and other professionals frequently speak at monthly meetings about a variety of topics affecting women.

Second-year TU law student Angela Jennings, Alumni Relations Chair for the organization, said the push to reconnect with alumni would strengthen the student experience for current students.

“The WLC is interested in reconnecting with our alumni because we want to assist them in meaningful ways,” Jennings said. “We would love to see more alumni at our activities, but our primary focus is to keep alumni informed of what we’re doing and to help them in whatever way we can.”

WLC events for this year include Race for the Cure, Prom Dress Drive for Tulsa’s Nathan Hale High School, the Dress for Success clothing drive, and the Fern Holland Banquet, among others. The organization also participates in social events with other law school organizations.

Alumni can e-mail Jennings for more information. The group also has a Facebook page titled “Women’s Law Caucus, University of Tulsa.”
