About the program:
The University of Tulsa was honored to host the charter Teach For America Tulsa Institute during the summer of 2012, welcoming 650 Teach For America corps members and 120 staff members for a successful training experience. Tulsa Institute corps members fanned out across the city to provide summer school to more than 4,000 children in Tulsa Public Schools and within Community Action Project of Tulsa County. This training began their journey to fulfill Teach For America’s promise of improved educational access for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Teach For America Institute is the ninth established by Teach For America, reflecting the Tulsa community’s pronounced ongoing need for talented and passionate educators who will help bridge the gaps faced by today’s students.
