Julie Christian Pittman, 2L at TU College of Law, was recently crowned Mrs. Oklahoma 2013 at the Guthrie Scottish Rite Theater. Her platform “No Excuse for Child Abuse” raises awareness of child abuse and the resources available to children in abusive situations.
As Mrs. Oklahoma, Pittman will implement her platform throughout Oklahoma by promoting the statewide child abuse hotline, fundraising for Oklahoma child abuse intervention agencies and educating communities on citizens' duties to abused children.
The Mrs. Oklahoma pageant, official state preliminary competition for the Mrs. America contest, is designed to celebrate the achievements, poise, grace and personality of Oklahoma's highly accomplished married women. Pittman was one of nineteen candidates competing for the title based on overall personality and articulation skills, confidence, achievements, poise and appearance throughout the competition. Fifty percent of the overall score went to the interview competition, and twenty-five percent went to physical fitness and evening gown competitions.
Julie’s husband, Spencer Pittman, is completing his 3rd year as a Juris Doctoral Candidate at The University of Tulsa College of Law.
