Involved Student Groups

During the 2009-10 academic year the following College of Law student groups are active in providing either public or pro bono service.

PILS: Public Interest Law Student Society

The Public Interest Law Society seeks to provide an open forum for students who are interested in donating their time to those who are less fortunate, to expose students to a side of life that some may never otherwise come into contact with, and the rewards associated with helping others who, often, cannot help themselves.

Held a food drive for the Food Bank.

Sold Boo-Grams to support the summer stipend program.

In conjunction with WLC hosted a silent auction to raise funds for the summer stipend program.

BLSA: Black Law Student Association

Collected toys for McKinley Elementary Schools' toy drive ensuring each child received at least on Christmas gift.

CLS: Christian Legal Society

Continues to host training sessions, each semester. Also coordinates volunteers for the Homeless Legal Clinic in conjunction with Legal Aid at John 316 Mission. Once a month these volunteers help run the legal clinic.

MLS: Military Law Society

Participated in the Toys for Tots program of the U.S. Marine Corps by collecting toys at the College of Law.

NALSA: Native American Law Student Association

Sponsored and coordinated an Angel Tree to facilitate the giving and receiving of presents to Native American Children in need.

Volunteered at the Tulsa Animal Shelter on TU Law's MLK Service Day.

SALDF: Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

Helped at the Tulsa Zoo's annual HallZOOween, a zoo fund raiser.

Volunteer at the Tulsa Animal Shelter helping socialize animals and taking them out to get fresh air as well as various administrative tasks.

Volunteer bimonthly to supply and deliver pet meals as part of the meals on wheels program.

In addition the College of Law as a whole participates in several drives during the year - for books, clothes, canned food, and other items.

WLC: Women's Law Caucus

Participated in and raised funds for Race for the Cure.

Held Immunity Days and collected canned goods and money for the Food Bank, enough for 2,905 meals!

Continues to raise funds to build a school house in Cambodia and provide school supplies.
