Luncheon Networks Women Lawyers and Students

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

This Event has been rescheduled for Monday, April 4, 2011, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Heritage room at Collins Hall.

The College of Law will host "Off the Record: Straight Talk from Successful Women Lawyers," a luncheon sponsored by the McAfee & Taft law firm.

The event will allow TU women law students to meet successful women lawyers from both private practice and industry in a relaxed environment. Discussion topics include real-world concerns women attorneys face that are not discussed in the classroom.

The National Association for Law Placement has reported on the gender gap in the legal profession, noting that women earn 85 percent of what men earn, women are underrepresented as firm partners, and women report lower levels of satisfaction in working for firms.

This is the second anniversary of the "Off the Record" event.  Last year's event was praised by TU students and participating professionals. "I am very thankful to the law school and McAfee & Taft for hosting this event," said participant Jessica Hunt (BA '03, JD '10). "I thoroughly enjoyed it."
