Collins College of Business Student Receives ADDY Award

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

A team of TU students and a marketing faculty member traveled to the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center near Muskogee, Oklahoma to interview and film several female inmates enjoying one of their monthly Girl Scout meetings with their daughters.  A generous gift from the George Kaiser Family Foundation allowed the students to use this footage to create a set of 30 second public service announcements that called for action to remedy Oklahoma's high rate of female incarceration.  Two of these videos were submitted to the Tulsa ADDY Awards committee, and on Friday, February 18 the students were recognized with 2 Tulsa ADDYs - one for each of the videos.  Blake Marfechuk, a TU marketing and film double-major, and Studio Blue, TU's student agency in the Collins College of Business, received the awards.

The ADDY Awards are the advertising industry's version of the Academy Awards where professionals from the ad industry recognize the best work in several categories each year.
