Northwestern Mutual visited with students in the north lobby then had an information session with lunch at noon in Helmerich Hall 214. They are here recruiting students interested in a career with a company whose interests are in financial planning.

Internal Revenue Service, Helmerich Hall Employer Visit - February 24, 2011
The Internal Revenue Service was visiting and recruiting students for internships and employment. A table was set up in the north lobby of Helmerich Hall for students to stop by and learn more about job opportunities available with the IRS.

Majors and Career Day - March 2, 2011
Business Career Development and Undergraduate Advising hosted the second annual Collins College of Business Majors and Career Day. This fair was open to all TU undergraduate students and an invitation was sent to Tulsa Community College (TCC) students to participate. All majors offered in the Collins College of Business were represented with faculty, students and alums for you to find out more about a major, adding a minor and career opportunities within that major.
Other tables included Business Career Development, Graduate Business Programs, Undergraduate Advising and TU Career Services. There was a drawing for prizes for those who visited at least two tables and asked questions. Prizes included 22" LED TV, Wii Console, Kindle and $50 Target gift card.
ConocoPhillips Meet and Greet - March 29, 2011
Right here at TU in Helmerich Hall for the Meet and Greet was the third-largest integrated energy company in the United States, the fourth-largest refiner and the sixth-largest reserves holder of nongovernment controlled companies.
ConocoPhillips hosted an information session where students could stop by and visit with several employees from the company, most of the employers were TU alum! Look for this event next year and stop by for a visit!

Utilize Your Summer Experience to Get the Job You Want - March 30, 2011
This was the first workshop of the spring semester. Students learned strategies to make the most out of their summer jobs, whether it is waiting tables or a professional internship with a Fortune 500 company. Participants also learned more about the fall recruiting season and what they need to do during the summer to be prepared to get the internship or job they want.
The presenter was Ben Gray, graduate assistant for Business Career Development and he was able to share some personal experiences from summer jobs and the process of obtaining an internship. Each student who attended received a small gift and was entered to win one of three Business Career Development portfolios.
Business Employer Panel - April 4, 2011
The Business Employer Panel gave students the opportunity to hear from professionals from a wide range of industries. Representatives came from BOK Financial, Grant Thornton, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Samson and Tulsa Drillers to discuss what makes their company unique.
The employers also talked about their personal career paths and why they made the career decisions they did. Students had the chance to hear firsthand what these companies look for in an employee, including everything from resumes to interviews to social media. Following the panel discussion, students had the opportunity to network with the employers and ask additional questions.
Team Building for MIS and Accounting Majors - April 8, 2011
Frustrated with team projects? This was the workshop for you! Teams are a part of the business reality and we cannot escape them. Cheri Lindle, founder and president of C3 Consulting Tulsa, has over 20 years of training and development experience. Cheri facilitated the workshop Team Building for MIS and Accounting Majors. The individual and group skills obtained at the workshop will give the students an edge to perform better now at TU and in their future jobs.
