Resume Workshop, Presented by WPX Energy - August 23, 2012
Adriana Carson of WPX energy presented resume tips and tricks to our business students. Students were able to learn first-hand from Adriana about what employers want to see on resumes as well as what employers do not like to see. Drawings were held for padfolios and business card holders and refreshments were provided.
Networking Workshop, Presented by Hilti - August 29, 2012
Kate Dewberry and Nikki Devlin of Hilti presented this workshop for students to learn more about professional networking. They shared tips and tricks for introducing yourself to recruiters at a career fair and communicating in general. They also gave valuable information about what Hilti looks for in job candidates. Drawings were held for padfolios and business card holders and refershments were provided.
Dress for Success, Presented by Etiquette School of Oklahoma - September 6, 2012
This event, presented by Jana Christian was an opportunity for students to learn what it takes to be a polished professional. An expert in business etiquette, Ms. Christian taught students all of the details of how to dress properly to make the perfect first impression. Handouts were provided for students to refer to when choosing the perfect attire for their business needs. All TU graduate students were invited to attend this event. Drawings were held for a $50 and two $25 gift cards to help students get started buying the perfect interview suit.
Helmerich Hall Employer Visit: InageNet Consulting - September 10, 2012
Mission: "Provide information solutions taht improve our client's bottom line." Natalie Russell and Ben Berghall (a TU business graduate) had an information table in the lobby and then did a Lunch and Learn at noon. ImageNet Consulting, which, in part, is a document management company, main office is located in Oklahoma City and sits in the shadow of the new Devon Tower. ImageNetConulting was founded in 1956, originally called Southwest Typewriter Company. Interview Strategies, Presented by BOK - September 13, 2012
Ann Morgan from Bank of Oklahoma reviewed interview do's and don'ts as well as tips for preparing for an interview and interview etiquette. Students heard real-life examples of interview stories and learned about the types of questions that an interviewer might ask. Drawings were held for three padfolios and three business card holders.
Walk-Up Resume Review Table - September 17 & 18, 2012
In the days before the upcoming job fair, students were able to have a quick resume review in the lobby of Helmerich Hall. The Business Career Center and Cerner teamed up to help students prepare. Cerner, an international company based in Kansas City, sent representatives and recruiters to critique resumes and provide last-minute job fair advice.
Business Job Fair - September 19, 2012
At this year's Business Job Fair, over 40 employers from various fields recruited TU business students for internships and full-time positions. This is the best opportunity for students to network and meet with companies they are interested in as well as find new prospects. Employers especially enjoy this event and the opportunity to meet TU's students.
Helmerich Hall Employer Visit: Northwestern Mutual Financial Network - October 10, 2012
Northwestern Mutual Financial Network visited with students in the north lobby of Helmerich Hall and held an Information Session at noon. They are recruiting students interested in a career with a company whose interests are in financial investment, financial advising and financial planning. NMFN is ranked as one of the top ten internships in the nation.
Applying to Graduate School, Presented by Graduate Business Programs - October 18, 2012
Patricia Zumwalt, marketing and communication manager for Graduate Business Programs in the TU Collins College of Business, presented this workshop to help undergraduate students understand the application process for business graduate school. Patricia covered everything students need to know, including scoring well on the GMAT, applying for admission, scholarships, graduate assistantships and the deadlines for the application process.
Helmerich Hall Employer Visit: TeachForAmerica - October 18, 2012
Weston Stewart, a recruitment director, visited Helmerich Hall to inform students of the vast opportunities the organization presents. Business students can apply to teach in low-income communities and truly make a difference in the lives of their students. The participants heard Weston share true stories from his experience as a TFA teach as well. Lunch was provided.
