Brad Carson is the Director of the National Energy Policy Institute at the University of Tulsa, where he also is as an associate professor of entrepreneurship and business law. He attended Jenks High School in Jenks, Oklahoma, and Baylor University, where he graduated with honors and was elected a Rhodes Scholar. After receiving his M.A. from Oxford University in the United Kingdom, he received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma.
In 2000, he was elected to represent the 2nd District of Oklahoma in the United States House of Representatives. After leaving office in 2004, he was a fellow at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and, later, Chief Executive Officer of Cherokee Nation Businesses, L.L.C. From 2009 to 2010, he served in Iraq on active military duty, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He has contributed journalism to the Weekly Standard, Blueprint, The New Republic, and Democracy: A Journal of Ideas. He and his wife, Julie, and son, Jack David, live in Claremore, Oklahoma.
