An emeritus professor of accounting in the University of Arkansas's Walton College of Business, Professor Deborah Thomas teaches in the Master of Taxation program at the Collins College of Business.  Her research, which focuses on tax policy and compliance, has appeared in the Journal of the American Taxation Association, the National Tax Journal, Advances in Taxation, and other venues.  She has been recognized for outstanding teaching with the American Taxation Association Teaching Innovation Award, the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association Distinguised Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching and Service, among others.  Thomas is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and practiced tax law before joining academia.
