Undergraduate Research Opportunities
The economics department encourages students to pursue independent research. All of our majors from the Henry Kendall College of Arts and Sciences are required to complete a senior project. In our department this requirement is satisfied by the student completing an independent research project under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
In addition, we encourage our students to pursue their topics with the goal of presentation at professional meetings and publication in scholarly journals. One of our undergraduate students recently received an award at a national conference for the best student paper. All other contestants were PhD graduate students.
For the last couple of years students have presented our best student papers at the Economic Scholars Program sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Last year four of our students participated as presenters and/or discussants at this competitive event.
