2009-2010 Achievements
TU Film Studies Assistant Professor, Jeff Van Hanken wrote and co-produced feature film, "The Legend of Billy Fail." 2009-2010 awards and honors for this feature film include:
- Four Spirit Awards at the International Cherokee Film Festival
- "Best Feature Drama" at the Trail Dance Film Festival
- "Award of Excellence" at the Three Rivers Film Festival
- Award Nominee for, "Best of Environment and Ecology" category at the International Christian Film Festival
- "Opening Night Film" at the Tulsa United Film Festival
- "Official Selection" at the 64th Annual Film and Video Society Association, August 10-14, 2010 in Burlington, Vermont
Jeff Van Hanken won a First Place Award for the Magazine Column Writing, Society of Professional Journalists, Oklahoma Chapter. Professor Van Hanken was also selected for a Panel Presentation, 2010 Society for Cinema and Media Studies, 50th Annual Conference, commencing March 17-20, 2010 in Los Angeles. The paper was titled: "History Written in Riot: Confronting issues of Authenticity While Building a Documentary Archive for the John Hope Franklin Center for Reconciliation in Tulsa, Oklahoma"
