Ed Ornelas Directs SE Hinton's Films and Visits the TU Film Studies Department
Director Ed Ornelas (Grey's Anatomy) flew into Tulsa, Oklahoma from Burbank, California to direct SE Hinton's newest films being produced by the Narrative Production II class taught by Professor Jeff Van Hanken. The film shoot took place in the basement of Lottie Jane Mabee Hall, which was turned into the scene of a prison's visiting room.
Students were able to get real-life film production experience, including using terms by Hollywood directors. Ornelas asked, "Do we have a twenty on (name)?" which means exactly, "do we know where this person is?" Students put together film equipment, were in charge of art direction, cameras, and production. Ornelas was also able to visit Film Studies classes to talk with the students and answer questions about the film industry and career.
The films will be edited and completed before finals in December of 2012. Information on the release date of the films is TBA.
