Public Presentation by the Agents

AN AGENTS SUMMIT III

MEINIG RECITAL HALL, LORTON PERFORMANCE CENTER.

8:00 pm - 9: 30 pm

At 8 p.m. on April 17th, agents from the literary, film and theatre worlds will present on work in their respective fields and provide insights into the state-of-the-business in these changing times. The presentation will take place in Meinig Recital Hall, The Lorton Performance Center. This event is free and open to the public.

The agents are Amy Wagner of Abrams Artists Agency, representing playwrights, screenwriters, television writers, among others, Sarah LaPolla of Curtis Brown, Ltd., representing both adult and YA fiction and Eddie Gamarra, a literary manager/producer at The Gotham Group, focusing in children's and family entertainment including film, TV and publishing. Amy Wagner started her career in the industry by covering books, plays and screenplays for Barbra Streisand’s company, Barwood Films. She spent eight years at the boutique literary agency Rosenstone/Wender before moving over to Abrams Artists Agency in 2007 where she represents playwrights, screenwriters, television writers, novelists and designers. Amy is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a member of the AAR.

Sarah LaPolla is an associate agent at Curtis Brown, Ltd. She studied creative writing at Ithaca College and has an MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School. She started working in the foreign rights department at Curtis Brown, Ltd. in 2008 and became an associate agent in 2010. Sarah represents both adult and YA fiction. For adult books, she is looking for literary fiction, urban fantasy, magical realism, dark/psychological mystery, and literary horror. On the YA side, she welcomes all genres and is drawn to unique voices and strong, complex characters.

Eddie Gamarra, Literary Manager/Producer, The Gotham Group. A former college professor, Eddie Gamarra is a literary manager/producer at The Gotham Group, a multi-faceted management and production company representing some of the most creative and successful screenwriters, directors, animators, authors, illustrators, publishers, and animation studios around the world. With a main focus in children’s & family entertainment, including film, TV, and publishing, Mr. Gamarra's extensive client roster includes numerous New York Times best-selling authors and illustrators as well as Oscar, Emmy, Caldecott, and Newbery award winners. Throughout his career, Mr. Gamarra has guided his clients in the creative development and sale of projects for a variety of platforms ranging from online shorts to live action feature films. In addition to his work at The Gotham Group, Mr. Gamarra has served as a consultant for Teen Magazine, National Geographic's TV series Hollywood Science, and MANswers on Spike TV. Mr. Gamarra received his BA in Psychology from Vassar College, and has lectured at universities across the country.
