TU Film Studies Department adds Hinton films to program for Spring Film Festival
The University of Tulsa Department of Film Studies will premiere a group of student films based on short stories written by legendary Tulsa author S.E. Hinton during its annual Spring Film Festival. The event will be held on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Lorton Performance Center.
The three Hinton films were shot around Tulsa with guidance from Hollywood directors Ed Ornelas (Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice) and Tim Hunter (Mad Men and Glee) as well as TU Film Studies Professor Jeff Van Hanken. The directors visited Tulsa in fall 2012 to mentor TU film students and assist with production.
Known as TU’s largest film event of the year, the Spring Film Festival recognizes students with awards in Best Film, Best Original Score, Runner-Up for Best Film and Audience Choice. TU faculty outside of the department and film studies alumni preview entries and vote for the top movies.
In addition to the Hinton-based productions, the festival will include other student film screenings and the trailers of upcoming movies produced by TU alumni.
The festival is free and open to the public. Refreshments and raffle prizes will be provided. For more information about the event, please contact Ashley Etter at 918-631-2969 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
