Director Sterlin Harjo to Visit Students at TU Campus

The Department of Film Studies and the Creative Writing program are hosting a luncheon with guest artist Sterlin Harjo (Sundance Film Festival, Sundance Institute Ford Foundation Film Fellowship) for students to attend on Friday, March 1st, 2013 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the GALLERY ROOM, ACAC.

Director Sterlin Harjo (Seminole/Creek) was selected as one of the inaugural recipients of the prestigious United States Artists Fellowship. He was chosen for the 2006 Media Arts Fellowship from Renew Media. He also won the Creative PRomise Award from Tribeca All Access for the script, Before the Beast Returns. In 2008, Harjo's film Barking Water premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was also screened at the 2009 Venice Film Festival. He participated as a filmmaker in the Embargo Collective, and his work was screened at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival, 2011 Native American Film + Video Festival. His feature film, Four Sheets to the Wing, premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
Harjo has served as a jury member for the Sundance Film Festival and an advisor for the Sundance Institute Ford Foundation Film Fellowship. He has worked for the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute.
